How to make sugar-free versions of all your fave Aussie classics!
Posted by nexbaau on 22nd Jan 2021

From pineapple on pizza to passionfruit on pavlova, there’s nothing quite like a classic Aussie dessert on a warm summer’s day. While there’s nothing better than whipping up lamingtons or fairy bread with the kids on the weekend, the hyperactive sugar-high that follows is no fun for anyone!
If you’re looking to avoid sugar crash tantrums and big sugar hangovers this weekend, you’re not alone. That’s why we decided to give our fave Aussie dessert recipes a sugar-free twist.
Strawberry & Peach Sugar Free Pavlova
There’s no denying that Pavlova is an Aussie classic. This nutritionist-approved version is so light and fluffy, nobody will know its sugar-free! Our recipe calls for strawberries and peaches, but you can experiment with any fruit or toppings that you like.
Not Quite Cherry Ripe Cheesecake
Did you know that the first Cherry Ripe was made nearly 100 years ago in 1924? That makes it one of Australia’s oldest chocolate bars! We gave this Aussie staple a sugar-free upgrade with a coconut brownie base, creamy chocolate layer and cheeky cherry jelly on top (with a secret Nexba ingredient that’s good for your guts!).
Mostly Monte Carlos
Monte Carlos have been a staple bikkie in Australian pantries for decades. Ours has that famous crunchy, coconut shell, sticky sweet jam and milky cream centre, but none of the super-sweet sugar.
Creaming Soda Spider
The classic creaming soda spider is an Aussie take on the 50’s American root beer float. No matter what you call them, they’ve earned a soft spot in our memories, even despite the huge sugar hit. We gave this throwback an upgrade with Naturally Sugar Free Nexba Creaming Soda and homemade ice cream that’s devilishly easy to whip up.
Pretty Pineapple Upside Down Cupcakes
What could be more Aussie than pineapple on cake? Everybody’s grandma has their own special version of a Pineapple Upside Down Cake, so we decided to make cute, party sized cupcakes instead. These taste so good, it’s hard to believe they’re sugar-free!
